In November of 2002, voters passed Proposition 202 to allow gaming compacts between the State of Arizona and Native American tribes. The Proposition required tribes to share 12% of their revenue for government services, including public safety, mitigation of the impacts of gaming, economic development, education, transportation, and health services (A.R.S. § 5-601.02).
Although each tribe has different processes and due dates, all tribes require support from a local government as outlined in tribal gaming compact. For the County, this means you will need to get a resolution of support from the Board of Supervisors prior to submitting your final application. The resolution requires a formal action by the Board. Use this website to submit your organization's request for a resolution.
